MegaCon 2009

Feel free to laugh uproariously at my awkwardness. I've never been the fan-girl type for anything so I was incredibly shocked when I found myself so profoundly embarrassed I literally could not look her in the eye! I can only imagine how it must have looked from her position, lol. She, of course, was gracious and, since the hall hadn't opened to guest, asked where my table was and was very complimentary of the layout of the table. I suppose that semester spent interning at the Civic Center with a trio of event planners paid off!

  1. Aww, don’t feel too bad. It happens to us all. I remember the first time I met Scott Kurtz of PVP at a convention once. I was so amped about getting to meet such a cool guy on the drive to the convention, but when I got up to the table I was just a bundle of nerves. I believe that the only things I said were that I really loved his comics and asked for a sketch of Brent and Skull. After walking away, I couldn’t believe what a dork I had been. I still have that sketch framed and hanging on my wall as a remembrance of that day. (And I treasure it more than the Walter Koenig autograph I go that day too.)

    1. Well, I’d actually seen her at DragonCon, the previous August, but I was so shy I just bought a couple of things and asked her to sign my monkey. Come to think of it, I don’t think I actually paid her any sort of compliment at all.
